Load Weighing
A load-weighing device detects the load on an elevator platform and supplies that information to the control system.
One use is keeping an overloaded passenger car at the floor. California section 3071(h) distinguishes that action from stopping a moving car: on a hydraulic passenger elevator, a load-weighing device may prevent departure but may not stop the elevator while it is running.
